Creative Frustration

Over the last 4 weeks, I've had to learn over 30 songs for two different performances I was hired for.

While I am grateful for the work opportunity and a chance to flex my memory muscle, the fatigue I have felt once all commitments passed is eye-opening.

Combine learning other people's music, with hauling tons of gear, and traveling 90 minutes in advance of at least an hour's setup, performing for 3-4 hours at a time, my down time has included very little devotion to any of my personal projects.

This morning I woke up so glum and couldn't figure out why until I had a vision of doing exactly what the picture on this post captures - consolidating each of my latest unfinished projects in writing down to what is required to actualize them into physical reality.

Whether or not this creativity dumping process actually enables me to progress faster in the coming months, at least it feels good to have gotten out.

Everything is 85% complete, the other 15% is just the outsourcing required to bring them out of the ether.

We have two children's books - "Little Monster," a playful poetic ode to anyone who adores their cat and "Fiorello," inspired by catching fireflies with my daughter and a fable to teach appreciating how you were made and not comparing yourself to others.

We have two children's songs, again, inspired by my daughter - "Wake Up, Baby Dinosaur" and "Firefly, Light Up" that she has lately been self-teaching on the piano (bless my heart). Listen to "Firefly, Light Up" in her own voice.

My goal is to release them under an entirely new artist profile and use the same pseudonym as a children's book author. Obviously "Fiorello" the book and "Firely, Light Up" the song would play off of each other very nicely.

We have a running list of original songs to get to, but we have one that just needs some background vocal editing, and an entire 4-song jazz cover project that JT has already agreed to doing with me.

It is just a matter of when.

Feel free to talk to me if you have any questions about these specific projects!
